Nine Month Well-Baby Visit

Today, we visited a doctor's office for the 3rd time in 8 days. (The co-pays are killing me!) This was a good visit, though. We went to see Dr. Koenig for Caleb's 9 month well-baby visit.

Caleb weighed in at 24 lbs, 13 oz (95th percentile) and was 28 3/4 inches (75th percentile). He didn't have to get any shots (yeah!) but did have some blood drawn to check his hemoglobin. It came back in the normal range. Dr. Koenig said that means that Caleb can start having milk now. He said that most doctors go by the one year rule for milk, but he doesn't believe in that. He said that Caleb is big enough and his bloodwork was right where it needs to be for him to be able to tolerate it. I asked him what kind of milk to give Caleb and he said 2% would be fine. We'll try it as soon as we run out of formula...

Dr. Koenig also gave me information about safety for Caleb's age. He talked about preventing choking, head injuries and falls. He also talked about how easy it is to pull a kiddo's arm out of socket. After all of that fun talk, he told us to have a good day and he'd see us in 3 months!
